Biography
Dr. Richard Wyderski was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1960 to Josef and Gertrude Wyderski, who had immigrated to the United States from Poland after being prisoners of war in World War II. He received his elementary and high school education in the Dayton Public School system and received scholarships to attend the University of Dayton where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in Premedical Studies in 1982. He earned his MD degree at the University of Cincinnati with honors in 1986 where he remained for his Internal Medicine residency training. He entered private practice in 1991 during which time he also served as Medical Director of Bethany Lutheran Village, a large retirement community, and became Board certified in Geriatrics.
After 6 years of practice he had the opportunity to become the Associate Program Director of the Wright State University Internal Medicine residency program where he works today. He also serves as Medical Director of the Medical Surgical Health Center, the clinic that Miami Valley Hospital operates to care for the poor, and has a variety of roles as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine and Community Health at the Wright State University Boonshoft College of Medicine. He earned his Master of Medical Management degree from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business with honors in 2002. He has been recognized with a number of teaching and community volunteer awards. He has served on the Ethical Standards Committee of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and for the past decade has served on the Ethics Committees of both Miami Valley Hospital and Graceworks Lutheran Social Services of Mid-America. As a result of his accomplishments in his profession and his community, Dr. Wyderski was named to Who’s Who in America in 2005 and 2007.
Dr. Wyderski has demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout his career. He has been trusted as Treasurer of the Cystic Fibrosis Volunteers and the Dayton Society of Internal Medicine. He has served as a delegate to the American Medical Directors Association representing the State of Ohio and currently represents Ohio’s 2nd District as an alternate delegate to the Ohio State Medical Association. He was elected President of his House Staff Council at the University of Cincinnati, President of The Ohio Medical Directors Association, President of the Dayton Society of Internal Medicine, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Epilepsy Foundation of Western Ohio, and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Dayton International Peace Museum Board of Directors.
On January 3, 2008 the Democratic Caucus of the 7th Congressional District of Ohio elected Dr. Wyderski to represent them as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.
